In February the Centre was closed for several weeks due to flooding caused the nearby River Colne overflowing it's banks following 'Storm Dennis' resulting in extensive damage but fortunately without loss of life to our animals.

In March the Centre went into lockdown and temporarily closed to visitors and beneficiaries to comply with the government Coronavirus/ Covid-19 regulations.

The Centre reopened to our beneficiaries in September.

Overall, the charity was closed for nearly 7 months. During this time we conducted a staffing review and managed to avoided compulsory redundancies and kept all our animals which are very well looked after by our great staff and volunteers and so special to our beneficiaries. (rabbits and guinea pigs were temporarily rehomed offsite with volunteers)

Being closed for such a long period profoundly affected the charity's finances with a drastic reduction in income  whilst at the same time facing the ongoing costs of maintaining the animals and retaining the Centre for the future benefit of our beneficiaries.

It is estimated the centre has suffered a financial shortfall of about £35,000 as a result these two events.

As we start welcoming our beneficiaries back the charity's finances are stretched further and the charity is now under threat of permanent closure.
